Volunteer!

The Computational Affective and Social Cognition (CASCog) Lab at UT Austin is seeking individuals to participate in our studies! At the moment, we are recruiting for our Life Experiences Study and the information pertaining to it is listed below.

Life Experiences Study

As part of a research study at the University of Texas at Austin, we are looking for individuals who would like to participate in a study about emotions and empathy! We will be asking participants to talk about several emotional events that have occurred in their lives, and how they feel about those events. We will need your permission to use the videos for research purposes. In order to participate, you must be willing to be recorded talking about some personal events that have emotionally affected you.

The study will take approximately 1 hour and as compensation, you will receive $20.

If you are eligible, you will be asked to come into the UT Psychology Department, and:

  1. Be asked to think about several events, both positive and negative, that had an impact on your life.
  2. Be video recorded while talking about these personal events
  3. Watch the videos of yourself talking. We will also be requesting permission for each individual video. (You may choose to give permission for some videos and not others.)
  4. Fill in several short surveys

To participate, you must be 18 years or older. You do not have to be affiliated with UT, although the study will be conducted in the UT Psychology Department.
